About Me:

I am currently a fourth-year Special Education and Science teacher at the High School for Global Citizenship (HSGC) on the Prospect Heights Campus of Brooklyn. Having returned to the neighborhood I grew up, I have worked enthusiastically toward our school's mission, "Bridging the gap between the classroom and the world." I have spent my time in the classroom teaching Chemistry, Anatomy & Physiology, and Principles of Biomedical Science. During my time at HSGC, I have served several leadership roles including Lead Science Teacher, teacher mentor, Coordinator of Student Activities, and website designer. As a member of the school's Cabinet, I have helped to create consistency of best practices across the school and to establish true Professional Learning Communities. Furthermore, I have played an integral role in building school culture by introducing several traditions including weekly staff uniform days, college pride days, and monthly grade assemblies.  Prior to joining HSGC, I received a Bachelor's Degree in History with a Pre-Medical Concentration from Columbia University ('11). Since college, I have been deeply passionate about pushing minority students to pursue STEM disciplines by arranging college tours, trips to conferences, and spearheading partnerships with HSGC. After completing my college degree, I was accepted into Teach for America where I obtained a Master's of Science from Hunter College in Adolescent Special Education ('13) while simultaneously teaching at HSGC. I am currently enrolled in the last semester of the Principal's Institute at Bank Street Graduate School of Education to earn a Master's in Educational Leadership ('15) and is completing my internship at HSGC with Principal Michelle Rochon.
